Switzerland commits to support the development of the Hydropower Sustainability Standard and its deployment in priority countries of the Swiss development cooperation. The Hydropower Sustainability Standard certification system was launched in September 2021. The support focuses on capacity development to sustainably plan, implement and operate sustainable hydropower plants in four selected priority countries (Albania, Colombia, Indonesia, and Tajikistan) and on the co-financing of sustainability assessments in priority countries of the Swiss development cooperation. It also aims to develop opportunities for climate finance investment in hydropower projects. The commitment falls under focus areas 2, 3, 8. It is relevant to SDG 9. The commitment is part of the Nicosia call 2022.

Switzerland commits to set up an inter-ministerial coordination unit to support participation of Swiss companies in infrastructure projects abroad and promote the use of high sustainability standards. The coordination unit will better connect stakeholders, and, in particular, promote the use of high sustainability standards like the SuRe Standard and the upcoming Sustainable Infrastructure Label from FAST Infra, in the planification, realisation and maintenance of infrastructures. The commitment falls under focus areas 4, 5, 7 and 8. It is relevant to SDG 9. Partners include the Climate Policy Initiative and Global Infrastructure Basel Foundation. The commitment is part of the Nicosia call 2022.

Croatia commits to the development of a system of sustainability satellite accounts of the Republic of Croatia. This is a policy instrument that ensures the development of sustainable tourism in the Republic of Croatia and public availability of information through indicators that will be created for the national and regional level and the level of selected tourist destinations. This commitment is relevant to SDG 12. Partners include the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, Institute for Tourism and Ministry of Science and Education. The commitment is part of the Nicosia call 2022.

The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine commits to develop and implement sustainable public procurement policies.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development assigns an important role to providing new growth dynamics of developing an inclusive transformation economy, based on the principles of sustainable consumption and production. Sustainable public procurement was identified as one of the means to achieve sustainability and a key condition for the transition to a green economy. It is necessary to identify the main tasks and measures for the introduction of sustainable public procurement in Ukraine.

The commitment falls under focus area 4 of the Batumi Initiative to change in consumer behaviour in favour of sustainable consumption patterns.

Implementing partners will include the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine and others.

The commitment is relevant to SDG 12.

The Cittadellarte-Pistoletto Foundation commits to continue its engagement with the Italian National Chamber of Fashion (whose members are major fashion brands) to create a structured path of commitments to sustainable practices in the supply chain of the fashion industry. These commitments will be on the basis of two key principles “transparency” and “traceability”. Cittadellarte operates with the scientific and technical advice of the independent public entity “Textile and Health”, whose work follows relevant international regulations. So far, up to 450 substances used in the textile sectors have been analysed and assessed, along with their use in the production process, to establish thresholds for their impacts on users, workers and the environment.

Fashion is not only one of the top three most polluting industries worldwide, but most significantly it is a value driven and value driving sector. Lifestyles and consumption trends are set, shared, and promoted via fashion. Fashion can be an extremely powerful ally of sustainable development strategies. So, Cittadellarte's effort to involve major brands is proving to be highly strategic.

Kyrgyzstan commits to developing the legal framework that will define the country’s green economy priorities. The Government will promote the green economy, especially among small- and medium-sized businesses. The development of the legal framework is expected to ensure the active involvement of business and the public sector. The commitment will include activities to increase the awareness of the private sector about elements of the green economy. It will also educate the private sector on the benefits of green technologies to ensure long-term sustainable development. 

Implementing partners include business associations and international organisations. 

The commitment is relevant to SDGs 7, 8, and 9.
