Caroline Uriarte with the LEDS Global Partnership Secretariat explains what the partnership is all about and the services it offers in this latest GGKP Partner in Focus feature.

Low Emission Development Strategies Global Partnership
Advancing climate-resilient low emission development around the world

The Low Emissions Development Strategies Global Partnership (LEDS GP) is a network of more than 110 government agencies, international organizations and technical institutes working together to advance climate resilient low emission development around the world.

The LEDS GP fosters peer learning, technical collaboration, and coordination of activities through regional platforms in Asia, Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean, and through global work streams focused on LEDS planning processes, analysis and tools, finance and sector specific programs.

The LEDS GP offers the following services and resources:

Remote Expert Assistance and Matchmaking: Government agencies and technical institutes working with governments can receive free remote consultation and advice on LEDS analysis, financing, energy, waste, and transport measures. The service connects country teams with an extensive international network of LEDS professionals to provide quick-response advice and assistance via phone and email consultation. This assistance can include reviewing draft strategies, sharing approaches that other countries have conducted, facilitating links with peers, and compiling data and information. For more information on this service or to submit a request, please email the LEDS GP Secretariat.

LEDS GP Inventory: This inventory of LEDS activities and resources provides links to many programs aimed at supporting design and implementation of LEDS internationally and includes LEDS case studies, analysis tools, training resources, best practices, and lessons learned. The inventory helps donors to coordinate programs and serves as a hub of information for countries and donors to learn from each other. To add a tool or program to this inventory, please visithttp://ledsgp.org/activities.

LEDS Toolkits: The LEDS-related toolkits provide quick and easy access to resources and information on LEDS and guide you through the processes involved in planning, developing and implementing low emission development strategies. Toolkits are focused on LEDS more generally as well as planning at the sectoral level. For a list of toolkits, please visithttp://ledsgp.org/tools/toolkits. Toolkits on LEDS energy and waste measure are under development.

LEDS Calendar of Events: The LEDS calendar of events displays upcoming LEDS and green growth events from LEDS GP partners. This calendar helps to enhance coordination of activities and improves partners’ awareness of planned climate change events. To view upcoming events and to access past LEDS GP events, please visit http://ledsgp.org/events. To post upcoming events in this calendar, please contact the LEDS GP Secretariat.

LEDS GP Global and Regional Workshops: The LEDS GP offers annual global and regional workshops to enhance coordination on LEDS and green growth, to promote knowledge sharing and peer learning within and across regions, and to build capacity for designing and implementing LEDS. Upcoming events in Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean are planned for the Fall 2013. For more information, please contact the LEDS GP Secretariat.
