Thailand is one of the countries most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, including rising sea levels and increased frequency and severity of weather-related disasters. The country is currently witnessing how climate change can exacerbate storms and disasters, threatening food and water supply which can lead to conflict.
This case study analyses the impacts of climate change on Thailand and the various policies and plans that the government has taken to address climate change. For example, at COP26, Thailand announced that its target for nationally determined contributions (NDCs) will be revised to cutting GHG emissions by 40 percent. The Thai prime minister also announced at the climate change conference that Thailand will achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and net-zero GHG emissions by 2065 conditional on financial and technical support.
