Advancing Gender-Responsive and Socially Inclusive Practices in Nature-Based Solutions for Adaptation

Nature-based solutions (NbS) are gaining global attention as a way to help communities and ecosystems adapt to climate change. When designed with environmental and social safeguards, they offer multiple benefits, from protecting biodiversity to strengthening local economies. However, there is still a lack of evidence on how NbS projects can advance gender equality and social inclusion.

To address this gap in evidence, two case studies have been developed as a supplement to a technical brief, Mainstreaming Gender Equality and Social Inclusion in Nature-based Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation developed under the Nature for Climate Adaptation Initiative.

The supporting case studies presented here provide practical examples of integrating gender equality and social inclusion considerations at various stages of implementing NbS for adaptation.
