To reach the 1.5-degree Celsius target, global efforts to mitigate climate change need to be increased. Relying solely on renewable energy and energy efficiency measures will not be sufficient.

According to a study by the International Resource Panel (IRP), approximately a quarter of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions stem from material production. Despite this significant impact, material efficiency remains largely overlooked in most mitigation scenarios and climate policies.

This factsheet illustrates how the Argentinian construction industry is actively lowering GHG emissions by incorporating a material efficiency strategy within its regulatory framework.
