Vanuatu Analysis Report: Contract to conduct feasibility study and develop a national used oil management plan for Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu

Organisation:
Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP)

There is limited storage capacity for used oil in Vanuatu. As a result, it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of liters of used oil is being disposed of on land, including landfills, or in waterways.

This report documents used oil production and existing used oil collection, storage, treatment, disposal and export services in Vanuatu to determine logistical issues and opportunities related to national used oil management.

It analyses these findings with respect to government and stakeholder priorities determined at the inception stage of the “Committing to Sustainable Waste Actions in the Pacific (SWAP)" project. It then provides a clear premise for the product and geographical scope and likely services necessary to meet the stated government and stakeholder needs within a draft National Used Oil Management Plan.
