This self-paced training module supports Parties to the Stockholm Convention in developing inventories of short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs), which are commonly used in industrial applications such as PVC production, metal working fluids and lubricants, and are known for their persistence, bioaccumulation and toxicity.
The course provides a structured, step-by-step framework for identifying, quantifying and reporting SCCPs across various sectors, including manufacturing, product use, waste management and contaminated sites. It also introduces key international guidance documents and tools to support national implementation efforts under the Stockholm Convention.
The course is divided into eight modules: introduction; background on SCCPs and regulatory context; general inventory development process; sector-specific modules on SCCPs in manufacturing, metal working fluids and product stocks; inventory of SCCP-containing waste; and inventory of contaminated sites.
