On 14 November 2022 (14:00-17:00 Bishkek time GMT+6, 9:00-12:00 CET) Global Opportunities for Sustainable Development Initiative (GO4SDGs) is hosting a kickoff Webinar on Sustainable Tourism and Plastic &Food Waste Management in close cooperation with the Ministries of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic, and ESG Central Asia Agency.
Objective
The main goal of the kick-off webinar is the exchange of UNEPs expertise on the management of plastic and food waste in recreation zones. The event will also allow participants to familiarize themselves with the Global Tourism and Plastic Initiative (GTPI). The presented platform will introduce the tasks and activities of the upcoming Sustainable Tourism and Plastic/Food Waste Management project and ensure further brainstorming on the project implementation. The activities include strengthening the role of women in decision-making, advancing legislation, promoting a regional approach, and building synergies in sub-region of Central Asia.
UNEP is accelerating action towards more sustainable consumption and production patterns, to address climate instability, biodiversity loss and pollution. GO4SDGs works with national authorities and private sector companies to offer science-based knowledge and policy recommendations. We also share best practices on nudging interventions which can be replicated to scale up.
Participants
The target audience of the webinar are representatives of government agencies, the hospitality sector organizations, small businesses, specialized in plastic/food waste management, representatives of civil society of the Kyrgyz Republic and international organizations. Simultaneous Russian-English translation and recording will be provided during the webinar.
