On 23 February 2022 (12:30-18:30 EAT), the Fifth session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-5) is hosting the 2nd UNEA Cities and Regions Summit - Flip the Script: Cities and Nature.
The summit challenges participants to "flip the script" and consider ways to develop cities as champions of nature, and accelerators of a sustainable future. Experts and city practitioners will speak about a range of themes to address strategies such as early integration of biodiversity considerations in city planning and management, adapting to changing geoclimatic and cultural conditions, and making a strong financial case that quantifies benefits of nature-based solutions.
English, Spanish, and French interpretation will be provided in all sessions. The event is hosted under the umbrella of UNEA-5 "Strengthening Actions for Nature to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals," the framework of the UN Decade on Ecosystems Restoration, and the Edinburg Process under the CBD.
