On 22 January 2019UN Environment and Eco-Business are hosting Can finance save the world? Unlocking Capital for Sustainability in Singapore. 

The event will bring together over 100 leading financiers, business leaders, investors and entrepreneurs to discuss how the finance industry can create positive social and environmental impact by aligning investments with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Key speakers at the event include:

  • Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources;
  • Steven Stone, Economy and Trade Branch Chief, UN Environment;
  • H.E. Scott Wightman, British High Commissioner to Singapore;  
  • Surya Bagchi, Global Head of Project & Export Finance, Standard Chartered;
  • Neo Gim Huay, Managing Director, Sustainability, Temasek International;
  • Arthur Huang, Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Miniwiz and National Geographic Young Explorer;
  • Barney Swan, polar explorer and global sustainability advocate who was one of the youngest to walk to the South Pole, among others.

This event is held in the run up to the Third Forum of Ministers and Environment Authorities of Asia Pacific, organized by the UN Environment Asia Pacific Regional Office and the Singapore Government from 23 to 25 January 2019 in Singapore. This will provide further opportunities for high level policymakers in the region to engage with business and finance leaders on advancing sustainable finance.
