On 17-22 April 2018, the World Bank Group’s Connect4Climate program is presenting the “Design4Climate Action” Media Zone during the Milan Design Week. Working with partners LifeGate, TVN Media, IULM University and others, ideas highlighting design for climate action and sustainability will be discussed and communicated to a global online audience.
What difference can one group, one company, or one individual make in designing a better future? Brilliant ideas, innovative solutions, and new designs come from every corner of the planet. How these contribute to promoting climate action, to building a low-carbon, resilient and sustainable future, will surprise and amaze you.
Design underlines every physical object we know. As the world walks towards a new era of eco-friendliness, low-carbon, and sustainability, Connect4Climate is empowering partners and engaging diverse audiences to embrace climate action driven, sustainable design. Sustainable design is climate-smart, environmentally-friendly and socially responsible, achieved through a circular-economy mindset that thrives on renewable resources, efficient construction, reduced waste, and healthy and productive environments.
Our transformation to a low-carbon, resilient future includes building sustainability into the very design of our houses, our furniture, our clothes, our technology, and all the elements of our daily lives.
Design4Climate Action will take place every day during Salone del Mobile - Milano 2018, from 12 pm to 4 pm at the Digital Media Zone inside the Material Village - Superstudio + in Via Tortona, and from 6 pm to 8:30 pm at the Digital Media Zone inside the CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati “Living Nature” exhibit in Duomo Square of the City. The live discussions with prominent experts on Design for Climate Action and Sustainability will take place in a container installed within a material village and in a garden pavilion in the city’s central square that uses energy flow control to allow spring, summer, autumn and winter to coexist under the same roof. At the same time, “Living Nature” will be the main venue of Salone del Mobile in the city.
