Development and Climate Days 2019

Location :
Madrid, Spain
On 8 December 2019, RCCC, IIED, EIT Climate-KIC, FAO, GRP, IDRC, UNDRR, InsuResilience Global Partnership are hosting Development and Climate Days 2019 in Madrid, Spain.

To prepare for COP26 in 2020, this year’s Development & Climate (D&C) Days will explore the ambitious actions and transformational systems that countries are already using, or need to develop, in order to meet their Paris commitments. This one-day event will bring together thinking from various sectors—food and agriculture, finance, cities, infrastructure, and biodiversity—that are seeking coherence and cross-cutting partnerships to ensure climate resilience for all. Participants will be encouraged to share learning experiences, challenge existing thinking, and generate new ideas on a range of issues that link policy, knowledge, and practice.

Five themes. The 17th annual D&C Days will carry forward conversations from the event ‘Building a Resilient Future’ held at the UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019, building on five themes:
  • Building resilient food and agriculture systems;
  • Early warning, early action to leave no one behind;
  • Financing a resilient future;
  • Establishing resilient cities and infrastructure; and
  • Working with nature to build resilience.
For the final theme—Working with nature to build resilience, the partners will explore ways to connect participants in potential remote sessions. More information on this will be provided as soon as it is available.
