Eco Cities of the Mediterranean Forum 2014

The third Eco-Cities of the Mediterranean Forum 2014 is an initiative of the Ministry of Environment of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to bring together private and public sector representatives, as well as NGOs and intergovernmental organizations, to raise awareness, share experience and information on best practices and identify opportunities for investment and technology transfer in the green, environmental sector. The forum will take place at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar, Dead Sea Jordan, October 2014. It will focuse on the themes of water and waste management. Partners in this initiative are The Ministry of Environment of Jordan, UNIDO, UNEP and The UFM .

During the planning conference, participants illustrated the importance of the challenges still facing municipalities of the region. As a result, topics and themes to be discussed at the forum include: Green Building, Solid Waste Management (SWM, Green Economy and Green Jobs including sessions on means of Financing Green projects and Public-Private Partnerships.

These themes were incorporated into the forum in order to assure that we responded to the most urgent environmental challenges faced by the region in general and cities in particular. Several institutions and organizations expressed their interest and commitment to the forum and were invited to take an active role during the event.
