Applications are now open for the ITU training course Fundamentals of E-Waste Policy and Producer Responsibilities to take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 5 to 8 November 2024.

The course offers an introductory overview of policymaking and producer responsibility in the field of e-waste management, focusing on the legal, financial and administrative components that underpin effective e-waste management systems. Supported by the Global Gateway initiative of the European Union, the course is offered free of charge to selected participants and includes accommodation, meals and a field trip to an e-waste recycling facility.

The training is designed for government officials and policymakers working in digital transformation, sustainability, environmental governance, and the management of old and end-of-life electronics. It aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to address e-waste challenges and to implement circular economy principles within their respective organizations.

Through this course participants will gain practical insights into e-waste management, including the technicalities of extended producer responsibility (EPR), financing systems and policy drafting.
