From 31 October to 4 November, the Group on Earth Observations (GEO) will host the GEO Week 2022 under the theme "Global Action for Local Impact" in Accra, Ghana.
One of the GEO's objectives is to develop the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) that links existing and planned observing systems around the world and supports the development of new systems where gaps currently exist. The three priority areas the GEO focuses on are climate action, disaster risk reduction and sustainable development.
This year's GEO Week will engage with its large community and also host the 18th Plenary of GEO and will address, among others, operational services in Africa and the road to GEO post-2025. All participants are encouraged to engage in various events, including a youth track, industry track and side events.
