The Stockholm+50 meeting — on 2 and 3 June 2022 — marked 50 years of global environmental action since the first historic conference was held on the human environment in 1972. Under the theme “Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity,” the meeting served as a moment to take stock of our current environmental and global commitments and to spur the collaborative, necessary action needed to address the Earth’s triple planetary crisis – climate, nature, and pollution – and reach our sustainability and biodiversity goals.
The June meeting followed months of consultations and discussions with individuals, communities, organizations and governments around the world as well as a one-day preparatory meeting at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in March. To drum up public dialogue leading up to the meeting, GGKP hosted a four-part webinar series discussing central themes relating to the preparatory Stockhom+50 Leadership Dialogues with a final session reflecting on the outcomes of the meeting.
Global dialogue and information sharing ahead of Stockholm+50 were be instrumental in its success, and ongoing momentum. See the webinar series below and engage with the online community discussions in the dedicated Stockholm+50 Green Forum space to help shape these important debates.
