The key events taking place during the week include:

Global Green Growth Summit 2016

The Global Green Growth Summit is GGGI’s flagship biennial event that aims to stimulate action-oriented discussion on economic growth, social inclusion, and poverty reduction through green growth policy, actions and investment. The discussions at the Summit will be focused on producing a Green Finance Action Agenda for 2017, to define what the green growth community can do differently, to institutionalize green growth as the logical choice for governments, donors and investors.

Fourth GGKP Annual Conference

The Fourth GGKP Annual Conference will highlight the latest research and policy considerations affecting pro-poor inclusive growth through plenary sessions, and panel discussions led by noted academics, practitioners and policymakers.

Country Focus Sessions

GGGI Country Focus Sessions will be organized from 6-8 September during GGGW to showcase achievements and future plans in our partner countries’ move towards a new model of green growth. These sessions are also expected to highlight potential green investment opportunities in relation to the implementation of national and sub-national green growth strategies and plans.

Asian Regional Policy Dialogue

The Asian Regional Policy Dialogue (ARPD) is designed to gather regional ministers, high-level public officials, and private sector leaders to discuss implementable policy and financing options that address the challenge of transitioning away from inexpensive coal in favor of green growth powered by clean renewables. It aims to be one of the most accented high-level dialogues on which to offer cutting-edge analysis, partnerships, innovative financing, and private sector solutions that can help countries make green growth a reality. The ARPD will provide an opportunity for invited countries to voice their opinions and influence the shape of the new international climate regime with a focus on ways to accelerate the transition to renewable energy. Tentative participant countries include China, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Ninth Session of the Council and Fifth Session of the Assembly

The Fifth Session of the Assembly and Ninth Session of the Council will convene ministers and senior officials from GGGI Member countries to guide GGGI’s thematic priorities (water, energy, green cities, and land use), green investment services, and partnerships, as well as to approve GGGI’s Work Program and Budget for 2017-2018.

The Green Growth Fair

The Green Growth Fair will be held in parallel with GGGS and the GGKP Annual Conference, and will serve as a platform for sponsors and partners to visually demonstrate (stands/booths, print material, video) their green growth achievements, innovations and technologies. The Green Growth Fair will also include sessions to highlight and discuss particular technological solutions to green growth challenges and opportunities.

Thematic Side Events

Side events held ahead of Global Green Growth Week will provide a platform for customized sessions on specific aspects of green growth. GGGI partner institutions are encouraged to organize evens related to the week’s two main themes of social inclusion and finance for green growth. The week’s programmes will also be interspersed with a series of special lectures and presentations, including from GGGI Member countries eager to highlight their country initiatives and to discuss partnerships in support of delivery.
