I-GO Regional Workshop: Africa

Organisation :
GO4SDGs, Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP)
Location :
Online (Zoom)

On 17 March 2022 (12:00-13:45 CAT), the Green Industry Platform and Global Opportunities for Sustainable Development Goals (GO4SDGs) are hosting the online I-GO Regional Workshop for Africa.

The workshop aims to train the I-GO Network of SME-supporting organizations in Africa on the I-GO Assistant so that they can most effectively promote it to small and medium-sized enterprises. It will also provide an opportunity for new I-GO Network members to engage directly with each other and share experiences both during and after the workshop.

The I-GO initiative has been developed by the Green Industry Platform to help upscale regional and national SME resource efficiency efforts. At the core of the I-GO initiative is the I-GO Assistant, a rapid online SME self-assessment and navigation tool that, as a first step, produces a tailored list of recommendations on how best to approach improving the resource efficiency of a particular SME’s operations. The tool matches an SME to the most relevant resource efficiency knowledge and support services that can help it implement the recommendations, considering the SME’s resource efficiency status, geographical location, and sector of activity.

As the workshop also serves as the official launch of the I-GO Assistant for SMEs, it will be followed by a 4–6 month test period, during which the Green Industry Platform and I-GO Network members will actively promote the tool among key groups of SMEs to get their feedback on the functionality of the tool.

The I-GO workshop will host participants from business associations, development organizations, government agencies, NGOs, financial institutions as well as country and donor representatives. It will be conducted in English and French (with simultaneous interpretation).
