From 29 May to 1 June 2022, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), Life Cycle Initiative and Global Partnership on Marine Litter are hosting in Dakar, Senegal, an ad hoc open-ended working group (OEWG) to prepare for the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee.
The OEWG is scheduled to convene in a hybrid setting, with in-person delegates meeting in Dakar, Senegal from 30 May to 1 June 2022. A multi-stakeholder dialogue will also be held on 29 May 2022, with stakeholders invited to exchange information and activities related to plastic pollution.
Discussions are intended to engage and hear voices of stakeholders that will be impacted by the international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution, but who normally do not participate directly in the negotiations. The outcomes will be reflected in the OEWG report, which will be submitted to the INC-1.
