On 21-22 November 2023, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development will hold its annual OECD Green Growth and Sustainable Development Forum.
Drawing on the OECD Horizontal Projects “Net Zero+: Climate and Economic Resilience in a Changing World” and “Going Digital”, the forum will focus on the convergence of the digital and green transitions, and how to leverage the complementarities and minimize the trade-offs between them to maintain progress towards greener and fairer societies.
It will also consider how external shocks, including the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, are affecting the international landscape for green growth.

Session 5: OECD-GGKP joint session on green growth and international cooperation in the context of the new global challenges
On 22 November 2023 (10:15-11:30 CET), Session 5 of the Forum will bring together five key inter-governmental organizations working on green growth to discuss how socioeconomic and geopolitical changes affect the prospects for international cooperation on green growth and what opportunities we should explore to strengthen it through their joint initiative, the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP).
The pandemic and the armed conflict in Ukraine have greatly disrupted the established trade and supply chains, diverting political priorities and resources from collaborative efforts on green growth towards efforts to stabilize national economies. At the same time, concerns over data security and access to critical materials for green technologies may adversely impact the spread of global value chains.
Together these changes represent a substantial shift in the international landscape over the past decade. Yet the rapid rise of artificial intelligence and digitalization can provide opportunities for countries to work together more efficiently towards green growth goals, if underpinned by effective knowledge sharing, data exchange and collaboration.
