OECD Roundtable on Cities and Regions for the SDGs

Location :
Brussels, Belgium and online

On 20 April 2023 (09:30-16:30 CET), The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) will host the OECD Roundtable on Cities and Regions for the SDGs in Brussels, Belgium.

In July 2023, the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) will feature an in-depth review of the progress on SDG11 (Sustainable cities and communities), including in terms of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. This is a critical opportunity to leverage the potential of decentralized development co-operation and city-to-city partnerships in achieving the 2030 Agenda, take stock of progress on SDG11, and harness the role of cities in shaping more sustainable food systems for the future.

This event aims to:

  • Learn from three new OECD reports: Reshaping Decentralised Development Co-operation in Cities and Regions: Lessons from Germany; Global Policy Toolkit on DDC; and Partnerships for Sustainable Cities: A Consensus-based Evaluation Framework to Localise the SDGs.
  • Analyse the progress on SDG11 on sustainable cities and communities as a contribution to the 2023 HLPF.
  • Hear the preliminary results of an OECD-Sustainable Development Solutions Network-CoR survey on  the role of cities and regions for the SDGs in an uncertain geopolitical context.
  • Discuss the role of cities in promoting sustainable food systems and addressing the food crisis generated by the war.

Registration deadline is 7 April, 2023.
