On 19 November 2025 (22:30-24:00 CET/18:30-20:00 BRT), leading UN agencies will convene a side event at COP30 to explore how countries can put the UN Guiding Principles on Critical Energy Transition Minerals (CETM) into practice to build fair and inclusive mineral value chains. The event will stress protecting communities and ensuring mineral wealth supports sustainable development.
Discussions will unpack the seven Guiding Principles and five Actionable Recommendations, focusing on boosting local value addition, economic diversification and traceability across supply chains.
Speakers will highlight how coordinated UN support can help mineral-producing countries reduce environmental and social harms while maximizing CETM’s contributions to sustainable, inclusive growth.
