On 12 December 2017 from 1.15 p.m.- 2.45 p.m., WWF and IISD are hosting a side event during SBSTTTA-21 (Twenty-first meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice of the Convention on Biological Diversity) on Valueing Sustainable Infrastructure In Montreal.
The event will draw upon the report “Biodiversity and Infrastructure, a Better Nexus” and debate on:
- Does green infrastructure hold promise to provide a ‘space’ for constructive collaboration between urban planning, science and conservation?
- The promise of natural infrastructure – how can we value the infrastructure services of natural ecosystems? What is the experience of the early movers?
- Sustainable infrastructure often costs more to plan and build. How can this additional capital be funded?
- Can block chain technologies be used to reduce the transaction costs in preparing and financing sustainable infrastructure?
