Special Session - 40º Anniversary of the Forum of Ministers of Environment of Latin America and the Caribbean

On 27-28 January 2022, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is hosting the Forum of Ministers of Environment of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) in San José, Costa Rica.

The special session, which will take place both virtually and in-person, will discuss the regional role of LAC in addressing such critical challenges as the progressive closure of dumpsites, finance mechanisms for climate action and forests protection, advancement of circularity and air-quality monitoring.

The high-level dialogues will also propose ways to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the context of post-COVID-19 recovery. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to contribute to the resumed session of the Fifth United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA 5.2), which will take place from February 28 to March 2, 2022 in Nairobi, Kenya. 

A live braodcast of the event will be available on the Youtube channels of the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica and the Forum of Ministers of Environment.
