Conference Room 01

Friday March 1, 2024
13:30 - 14:45 EAT
In the current era marked by interconnected planetary crises of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, the urgency to secure a sustainable and equitable future for present and future generations has never been more pressing. The global commitment enshrined in the three dimensions of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) serves as a guiding light to comprehensively address environmental challenges. Furthermore, the realization of these goals emphasizes the need for inclusive and active participation of all stakeholders, with a particular focus on youth engagement.
Our high-level youth panel "From words to effective actions: Youth as solution to tackle the Triple Planetary Crisis" seeks to explore the interplay between the sustainable development agenda, the human right to a clean and healthy environment, and the pivotal role of youth green skills and meaningful engagement in the implementation of these commitments. This event highlights the importance of enacting intergenerational responsibility and underscores the necessity for unified advocacy to address the planetary crises.
The event will also constitute an opportunity for youth representatives to convey the outcome of the UNEA Youth Assembly directly to Ministers, policymakers, and other high-level representatives.
Objective
The primary objective of this side event is to catalyze meaningful youth engagement in the realm of global processes on sustainable development, environmental sustainability, and multilateralism, in particular, but not limited to the United Nations Environment Assembly. We aim to unlock the untapped potential within youth involvement and inspire transformative change to address climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, as well as contribute to the further development of strategies regarding green jobs and green skills, building upon the “Green Jobs for Youth Pact”.
