On 5 March, 2014, as part of the Inaugural PAGE Conference, the GGKP held a lunchtime side event on the topic of "What We Don’t Know - Expanding the Frontiers of Green Growth Knowledge". The event, moderated by GGKP Head, Benjamin Simmons, brought together a high-level panel of experts working in this field, including:
- Ashok Khosla (President, Development Alternatives),
- Najib Saab (Secretary General, Arab Forum for Environment and Development),
- Steven Stone (Chief, Economics and Trade Branch, UNEP), and
- Scott Vaughan (President, International Institute for Sustainable Development)
Panelists addressed a number of questions on the future of green growth research, including: How we can expand what we know about green growth theory and practice to better inform the transition towards a green economy; How we can ensure that our research efforts transcend the traditional divide between economy and the environment; What the biggest gaps in knowledge we currently face are; and How we should prioritize our future research efforts.
In addition, participants to the side event were provided with a brief introduction to the GGKP’s collaborative knowledge generating strategy and it’s recently launched web-based knowledge platform.
