Manchester, UK

On 3-5 April 2018, the International Climate Change Information Programme (ICCIP), the Research and Transfer Centre “Sustainable Development and Climate Change Management” of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany), and Manchester Metropolitan University (UK) are hosting the World Symposium on Climate Change and Biodiversity (WSCCB-2018) in Manchester, UK.

The Symposium aims to address the need to not only better understand the impacts of climate change on biodiversity, but to also identify, test and implement measures aimed at managing the many risks climate change poses to fauna, flora and micro organisms. It will also address how to better restore and protect ecosystems from the impact of climate change. The Symposium will mobilize scholars, social movements, practitioners and members of governmental agencies, undertaking research and/or executing projects on climate change and biodiversity across the world. The Symposium aims to make a contribution to reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular SDG 1 (no poverty), SDG 2 (zero hunger), SDG 13 (climate action), SDG 14 (life below water) and SDG 15 (life on land).

An outcome of the Symposium will be a peer-reviewed Handbook of Climate Change and Biodiversity, which aims to provide a comprehensive overview of approaches to addressing the challenges that climate change poses to biodiversity.
