On 12 February 2021 at 10:00 (EST)GO4SDGs is hosting a panel at the Youth SDG Summit - "Youth: A Driving Force for Innovative Lifestyles to GO4SDGs".

By 2050, the world’s population may reach a whopping 10 billion and with more people comes more demand for – food, fashion, travel, housing, and related aspirations. An increasing number of people are unable to meet basic needs while two to three billion new urban consumers and youth will receive the majority of their information from social media. In a world stretched thin for resources and under the threat of global biodiversity loss and climate change, our lifestyles decisions are putting the planet at risk, and targeted action is needed now.

Sustainable living means understanding how lifestyle choices impact the world and finding ways for everyone to live better and lighter. Applying a ‘people lens’ to sustainability is timely and the opportunities are great. The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has been developing tools to enable behaviour change and empower youth (e.g. Good life Goals, Anatomy of Action, sustainable lifestyles: options and opportunities). The new Initiative, GO4SDGs, aims the scale up regional solutions for inclusive green economies and sustainable living.

This event will focus on how to inspire youth to live better and lighter. It will showcase the power of youth as gamechangers, which is a central theme to be discussed at Stockholm+50.  The event will feature the perspective of three young advocates from around the world, who are acting, inspiring, and enabling young people to be part of the change. They will show inspiring stories, showing the power of youth to be a driving force for innovative lifestyles, and to GO4SDGs.
