Applied Energy has issued a call for papers that focus on methods to measure to what extent countries can industrialize while developing a sustainable energy sector and improving inclusiveness. The paper will feature in a special issue of the journal on "Inclusive and sustainable industrial development and measurement approaches for energy transformation". The deadline to submit manuscripts is 30 September 2019.

This report looks at why such a large share of coal power is struggling today and the drivers—including subsidies—that may cause similar crises in the future. In light of this, it sets out some broad proposals on the topic of “just transition,” which encourages governments to recognize stranded workers and communities as much as stranded private or public assets.
