This Financing for Development: Progress and Prospects 2018 finds that most types of development financing flows increased in 2017, and that there has been progress across all the action areas of the Addis Ababa Action Agenda. This progress was underpinned by an upturn in the world economy, but at the same time the report warns that risks could derail development progress and structural impediments continue to undermine sustainable development prospects.

As currently constituted, the price of electricity in today's markets does not accurately reflect the costs of electricity on the society and the environment. Adopting approaches suggested in this paper would allow policy makers and the public to make better informed decisions along the path towards fully sustainable electricity systems.
