Colombia and Peru are countries rich in natural resources, particularly those in the forest sector. The region has experienced considerable economic growth over the past decade, driven by mining, agriculture and other export commodities, resulting in a significant decrease in poverty. However growth has come at the cost of natural capital erosion and environmental degradation, impacting local livelihoods.

Africa is urbanising fast. By the mid-2030s, a majority of Africans will live in urban areas. But productive jobs and quality public services are not keeping up with the fast growth of cities and towns. Yet urbanisation holds huge potential for accelerating economic, social and environmental development; even rural areas would benefit from the development of vibrant, sustainable African cities.

Inclusive green growth offers a route out of multiple related crises - in the economy, the environment and society. Yet for green growth to really fulfil its promise, it needs to be truly inclusive - tackling issues such as poverty, inequality and the exclusions that constrain both growth and environmental sustainability.
