The Forest business incubation toolkit by and for Forest and Farm Producer Organisations (ForBInc) is designed to demystify the concept of business incubation in the forestry sector. It presents an approach to setting up business incubation services in the forestry sector, 11 case studies showcasing different models of business incubation across in Africa, Latin America and Asia, and advice for addressing gender inequalities at incubator design stage.
The toolkit was developed by the Forest Connect Alliance, which supports locally-controlled forest enterprises by better connecting them: to each other — with a focus on strengthening forest-farm producer organisations at different levels; to service providers — with a focus on building business and financial capacity; to markets — with a focus on enhancing links to buyer and brokering fair deals with investors; to decision makers — with a focus on securing commercial forest rights and incentives in laws and policies.
