Article 6 of the Paris Agreement facilitates collaborative and transparent efforts among governments, businesses and civil society to achieve the ambitious goals of the Paris Agreement while staying below 1.5°C.

This report clarifies how key aspects of Article 6 rules will operate in practice and explains the strategic policy decisions host countries must make. It also emphasizes the necessary institutional arrangements, including authorization, transfer and tracking of internationally transferred mitigation outcomes (ITMOs) under Article 6.

Aligned with its 2030 strategy, GGGI aims to emerge as a frontrunner in driving carbon trading initiatives under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
