The Stockholm Convention requires each party to develop appropriate strategies for the identification of products and articles in use and waste consisting of, containing, or contaminated with persistent organic pollutants (POPs). The identification of the use of short-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs) and wastes containing SCCPs is the starting point for effective environmentally sound management. Information obtained through the established inventory of SCCPs may assist in meeting these obligations.
The target audience is the national focal points of the convention and those involved in the process for national implementation plan (NIP) review and update, in particular the task teams and coordinators responsible for establishing the inventory.
The users of this guidance should consult general guidance on POPs inventory development and other guidance documents to support review and updating of national implementation plans available on the Stockholm Convention website.
