This guidance helps Parties to the Stockholm Convention strengthen monitoring of (POPs) in products and recycling streams, focusing on sampling and analysis of industrial POPs and unintentional POPs (uPOPs).
For POP pesticides, it addresses only pentachlorophenol (PCP) in products such as wood and leather. It supports the development of inventories and monitoring strategies for new and in-use products, recycling streams, import controls and human exposure, including Tier III inventory development.
By addressing POPs directly in products and recycling flows, it complements the Global Monitoring Plan (GMP) and fills a key gap in existing monitoring guidance.
