The objective of this document is to guide setting a national mechanism for NIP review, update, and reporting, helping Parties to develop and establish a standardized procedure to comply with the objectives of the Stockholm Convention. This guide is designed to be an easy-to-read document that can be adapted to the particularities of each Party. Chapter 1 of this document presents basic background information related to the Stockholm Convention. Chapter 2 describes the fundamental obligations of the Parties to review and update their National Implementation Plans (NIPs) and reporting. Chapter 3 describes the steps involved in the NIP review and update process. Chapter 4 describes the necessary steps for reporting.

As part of the GEF-funded and UNEP-led “Global Development, Review and Update of NIPs under the Stockholm Convention on POPs” project, the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) is executing Component 4, focused on disseminating information, managing knowledge and coordinating with the Stockholm Convention Secretariat to provide accessible, integrated tools and resources for all Parties.
