Model Regional Education and Awareness Plan

This paper aims to assist the development and refinement of country project education and awareness plans to support collaboration, cost effectiveness, sharing of ideas and campaigns, and making the most effective use of the resources available.

The objectives of this model Regional Education Awareness Plan (REAP) are to:

  • Provide a framework to participating countries to design and develop major education and awareness programs that deliver on the PacWastePlus programmes strategic priorities to leverage opportunities for cost effective outcomes and collaboration, as well as regional development outcomes.
  • Support countries to identify overlapping priorities or similar waste messages to maximize resources and assets within the region.
  • Grow and invest in programmes that deliver on strategic initiatives to reduce waste and contribute towards improving the health of communities and the environments.
  • Continue and increase support of locally driven social and economic innovation.
  • Develop knowledge and facilitate the adoption of best practice at all levels (individuals, community, business, and government) in the management of hazardous and solid waste management in the Pacific region.
