National Guidance for Plastic Pollution Hotspotting and Shaping Action Modules

The guidance is structured around six technical modules and two strategic modules (T for technical modules and S for strategic models):

• ​Module T1: Inventory of plastic flows

• Module T2: Characterisation of waste management

• Module T3: Modling polymer/application/sector hotspots

• Module T4: Identifiaction of waste managemnet hotspots

• Module T5: Modelling regional hotspots

• Module T6: Assessing impacts

• Module S1 (Hotspot formulation): Actionable hotspot formulation

• Module S2: Intervention identification

• Module S3: Instrument alignment

Each module could be applied by using a coherent set of tools (templates and spreadsheets). Three types of tools are proposed:

1. Input tools with data collection templates and generic data libraries;
2. Assessment tools to carry out the necessary modelling and calculations; and
3. Output tools that generate result and graphs with results and support the user in drawing conclusions
