Tools for a Gender Responsive Transition to the Green Economy

UN-women

Integrating gender considerations into Long Term Low Emissions Development Strategies (LT-LEDS) is crucial for achieving both low-carbon development and gender equality.

This note presents a methodology developed by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and UN Women, applied during the formulation of Burkina Faso’s LT-LEDS in 2022. LT-LEDS are pivotal in guiding countries towards sustainable, low-emission growth as part of their commitments under the Paris Agreement.

The purpose of this note is to outline a methodology for incorporating gender perspectives into LT-LEDS, demonstrating how such integration can enhance gender equality and women’s empowerment while pursuing low-emission development goals.
