Mauritius Strategic Plan (2016-02020) for the Food Crops, Livestock and Forestry Sectors sets out the goals and objectives to be attained over the next five years to improve the level of food security and food safety and promote a more sustainable agriculture.
The main objectives of this plan are two-fold, first, increasing the production of high-quality strategic crops, vegetables and meat to satisfy local demand and second, promoting the development of the agri-business sector to enhance import substitution in order to reduce dependency on imports.
