Uganda Agriculture Sector Strategic Plan

Developed after the comprehensive review of the Agriculture Sector Development Strategy and Investment Plan (DSIP) and the identification of the implemented challenges and the lessons learned the Agriculture Sector Strategic Plan (ASSP) takes into account the development priorities in the National Development Plan (NDP) II. The document entails background of Uganda's agriculture sector, situational analysis, the strategic interventions of the sector during the plan period, institutional arrangements for implementation of the ASSP, the financing strategy, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) arrangements. 

Agriculture is the backbone of Uganda's economy and will be critical to the achievement of the National Development Plan II goal of propelling the country towards middle-income status with a per capita income of US$1,033 by 2020. The sector is expected to contribute to the wealth creation and employment through the implementation of actions for value chain development of twelve priority and four strategic commodities. This document describes the priorities, strategies, and interventions required to achieve these results.
