Uganda's Second National Development Plan (NDP II) aims to strengthen the country's middle-income status by 2020, in line with the aspirations of Uganda's vision 2040, by strengthening its competitiveness for sustainable wealth creation, employment, and inclusive growth. It is the second plan in a series of six five-year plans that aim to achieve the Uganda Vision 2040.
The plan prioritizes investment in five areas with the greatest multiplier effects on the economy:
- Agriculture
- Tourism
- Minerals, oil, and gas
- Infrastructure development
- Human capital development
The effective implementation of this plan is expected to lead to an average growth rate of 6.3 percent and per capita income of US$1,039 by 2020.
