Analysis of Green Economy Approaches in Latin American and Caribbean Countries

UNEP has released a new Green Economy Discussion Paper which analyses the regional debate on the potential of a green economy transition to sustainable development. “Development strategies of selected Latin American and Caribbean countries and the green economy approach - A comparative analysis” focuses on six countries that have expressed concerns about the concept of green economy, namely: Argentina, Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Venezuela. The paper provides an analysis of the compatibility of key elements of the development strategies of these countries with the green economy approach; and analyses the concerns expressed with regard to the adoption of a green economy as a pathway towards sustainable development.
