Call for Papers

The call for contributions is now open for Resilient Cities 2019 — the 10th Global Forum on Urban Resilience and Adaptation — which will take place from 26 - 28 June 2019 in Bonn, Germany. The deadline for application is 2 November 2018.
Proposals are welcome for various formats, including presentations, panels, workshops, and debates. An overview of all formats is available here.
A core objective of the Resilient Cities congress series is to serve as the global resilience implementation forum. To advance this goal, the special anniversary edition of the Resilient Cities 2019 will focus on:
1. Paving the way and financing resilience
1. Connecting science-policy-dialogue for evidence-driven, data-based action
2. Building bankable resilience projects and financing adaptation
3. Disaster risk reduction and management plans, from reactive to proactive responses
4. Multilevel governance and resilience planning
5. Effective partnerships for delivering local resilience
2. Advancing resilience
1. Tracking local implementation of adaptation to climate change: Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting, including the localization of the SDGs
2. Widening resilient development pathways: Circular economy and resource efficiency
3. Achieving resilient city-region food systems
4. Preserving cultural and natural heritage
3. Innovation for resilience
1. Risks and opportunities related to automation, digitalization, tech solutions for local resilience
2. Opportunities and risks of disruptive digital technologies and building ‘future-ready’ local skills
3. Resilient and adaptive infrastructure, including nature-based solutions and ecomobility
4. Emerging ideas and solutions to achieve local resilience, including urban tinkering and blockchain
5. Social innovation and new methods of citizen engagement and improved social participation, including gamification
4. Building resilient societies
1. Forced migration and resettlement in the context of climate change
2. Social cohesion and inclusion of marginalized groups in decision-making
3. Responding to external shocks, such as civic conflict, cybercrime, and terrorism
4. Resilience contributing to happy and healthy societies
5. Citizens’ voluntary emergency response and leveraging on social capital
Congress themes also include current and pressing issues such as managing climate-related health risks, leveraging social capital, and evidence-based adaptation planning.
