UNITAR’s Green Development and Climate Change Programme (GCP) develops the capacities of individuals and training institutions in developing countries to advance green and climate resilient development in support of Agenda 2030. The Programme offers a range of services, including executive training, capacity development for education and training institutions, support for national learning strategies, learning methodology development, and knowledge-sharing. Activities are carried out through partnerships with other UN organizations, bilateral development partners, as well as leading learning institutions and think tanks.
Within the framework of the EU-funded EU4Environment programme, UNITAR is collaborating with UNEP to provide support to six Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The EU4Environment programme aims to help countries make their policy planning and investment greener, stimulating the uptake of innovative products and technologies, and raising awareness on greener growth and nature protection.
To upscale the abilities of key stakeholders to design and implement green economy policies, UNEP and UNITAR are joining forces to provide a tailored e-learning course for nominated civil servants in line Ministries and other key government agencies in the 6 EaP countries. The ultimate objective of the training is to generate policy action on green and circular economy by strengthening the policy makers’ abilities to analyse and design environmental/green economy policies and measures.
To support this work, UNITAR has issued this call for a home-based consultant to act as a moderator for the pilot edition the e-course “Towards a Green Transition in Eastern Partnership Countries”.
