Circle Economy is an impact organization that combines data, tools and digital knowledge to support businesses, cities and nations to accelerate the transition to a circular economy through practical and scalable solutions that address humanity’s greatest challenges.
Circle Economy has joined the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership as a Knowledge Partner on GGKP’s three platforms: Green Policy Platform, Green Industry Platform and Green Finance Platform.
In addition to guiding policymaking based on data-driven evidence, Circle Economy works directly with businesses through its Circle Business Scan to help them embed circularity principles and practices in their operations. It also engages with the financial, legal and accounting sectors. For instance, the Circular Accounting Coalition (CCA) aims to identify and overcome accounting-related challenges that hinder the transition to the circular economy.
The organization’s Circularity Gap Reporting Initiative analyses the state of the global economy, measures its level of circularity and identifies key levers to become more circular. These range from transforming global mobility to food systems and housing. Circle Economy also scales down this methodology to nations, cities and labour markets to help them accelerate and prepare for the circular transition.
Circle Economy’s wealth of knowledge will further enhance GGKP’s platforms given its extensive Knowledge Hub, an online Wikipedia-style repository of practical case studies on the application of circular strategies, policies and business models from across the globe.
Circle Economy, founded in 2011, is a non-profit organization based in Amsterdam. Its mission is to double global circularity from its current rate of 8.6% to 17% by 2032 to safeguard the planet and its people from the worst impacts of climate breakdown.
