Today the GGKP is welcoming three new members to its Advisory Committee and appointing two new co-chairs. The new members first duties will start during the GGKP’s Third Annual Conference which is being held at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, Italy from 29-30 January 2015.

The GGKP’s Advisory Committee consists of experts from around the world with deep technical or policy experience related to green growth research and practice. The new members were appointed by the GGKP’s Steering Committee and include, Paul Ekins, (Director, Professor of Resources and Environmental Policy, UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources); Kevin Urama, (Inaugural Managing Director, Quantum Global Research Lab) and Mohan Munasinghe (Founder Chairman, Munasinghe Institute for Development).
The Advisory Committee is also appointing two new Co-Chairs from their existing members who include, Alice Akinyi Kaudia (Environment Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources, Kenya) and Carlo Carraro (Professor, Environmental Economics and Econometrics, Universitá Cá Foscari Venezia, Italy; Vice-Chair, IPCC WG II; Director, International Center for Climate Governance).
The Advisory Committee offers strategic advice and guidance on the GGKP research programs, including:
- Recommending key research topics and pointing to new and emerging fronts for priority research;
- Identifying and nominating institutions and experts to serve on GGKP research committees; and
- Suggesting opportunities for catalysing broader research efforts and triggering research funding for knowledge gaps identified.
