New GGKP Working Paper on the Future of Energy Technologies

GGKP News

The Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP) has released a new working paper on "The Future of Energy Technologies: An Overview of Expert Elicitations".  The working paper explores the development of new energy technologies which are widely viewed as an essential element in addressing climate change. A key obstcale explored in this research is the challenge for policymakers to identify and prioritize which energy technologies should receive research, development and demonstration (RD&D). Particular difficulties arise in estimating the future performance and costs of these technologies.

This GGKP working paper provides a comprehensive and systematic overview and analysis of expert elicitation studies on energy technologies that have focused on climate mitigation technologies. The report also examines the literature on modelling and decision-making that has used the data produced through expert elicitations.

The paper was commissioned on behalf of the GGKP Technology and Innovation Research Committee and was carefully and collaboratively guided with the assistance of the 18 experts making up the Committee and the commissioned authors.
