National Institute of Ecology and Climate Change (INECC)

The National Institute of Ecology and Climate Change (INECC) has its origins in the National Institute of Ecology (INE), created in 1992 as a division of the Ministry of Social Development, with technical and regulatory powers, becoming in 2001 a scientific research institute within the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT). In 2012, INECC was created in accordance with the new General Law on Climate Change.

INECC’s mission is to contribute to the development, conduct and evaluation of national policy on climate change, green growth and sustainability through the development, coordination and dissemination of studies and scientific or technological research.
