Akachukwu Okafor is the founder and Principal Partner at Change Partners International, an energy, environment, climate change and sustainability consultancy and project development firm that specializes in providing sector policy analysis, policy reform support, market intelligence services and facilitating public private partnerships in the African market.
Akachukwu was at the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP), Accra, Ghana on an IREX/USAID leadership exchange program where is assisted in the development of policies and plans for sustainable energy development for Ghana and Liberia. He is a member of a consortium commissioned by a NIRSAL – a Central Bank of Nigeria agency and the Federal Ministry of Environment, Nigeria to get Nigeria registered as an accredited entity of the Global Climate Fund (GCF) and design sustainable climate smart projects for financing. He leads training and development at Blue Camel Renewable Energy Training Academy, Kaduna, Nigeria.
He was the pioneer Editor, Energy and Environment, Initiative for Policy Research and Analysis (InPRA) and writes regularly on energy, environment and climate issues in Business Day (Nigeria’s top business and financial newspaper) and news media, speaks frequently in both local and international media, chaired and participated in conferences in cities including London, Accra, Nairobi, Washington DC, Moscow, Sochi, Brussels, Seoul, Paris, and Geneva. He is a peer reviewer for Energy Research and Social Science journal published by Elsevier and a faculty member and coach at Green Women Fellowship, Nigeria.
Akachukwu is a Mandela Washington Fellow (Public Management, University of Maine, United States of America) and holds a Master of Science in Energy Policy for Sustainability from Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex, United Kingdom. He is an Associate Member, Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria and received United Nations specialized leadership trainings at New York and Geneva. Akachukwu loves to hike and kayak and lives in Abuja, Nigeria.
